2/4/19 I'm so excited to have 6 of our squads at the upcoming competition.† It's been a lot of hard work getting here, but the competition season is going to ramp up very quickly.† It'll go by fast, so don't forget to enjoy each and every opportunity.

This is a long day.† Early for some, late for others.† I have done my best to break up the day while making sure everyone has someone there to support them.† So please make sure you are on time (or early!).

General Information

The competition will take place this Saturday, Feb. 9th at the Rocky Mount Sports Center located at 285 NE Main Street in Rocky Mount, NC.†† Admission is $18 cash or credit card only ($15 with a blanket or coat donation), Children 3 and under are free.† Parking is $5 per vehicle, this is charged by the venue and in no relation to the competition.† Video Cameras will NOT be allowed.† No Livestream of the event is allowed for the protection of the athletes.† This is a good time to remind everyone that we ask you to not post videos of our team's performances for the same reason.† We ask that the parents make sure they are down front together (when VIP sections are available), cheering, and LOUD!† Feel free to wear Carolina Elite colors!

Uniform, Hair, and Makeup
This year we are doing a straight high ponytail.† It looks good, it's simple, and keeps it off of the shoulders where it might get in the way.† Please watch this video to see how it should be done to stay high https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WTNFwy-Tn5s.†† If you need someone to do help with your hair please arrive in plenty of time to have them do it.† Don't wait til the last minute and be respectful when asking others to help.† As is usually the case we have selected a hairstyle that is clean and elegant!† The parents will appreciate it when they aren't taking hours to do the hair...and the kids will appreciate it years later when they look back and don't see a "bump".
As always DO NOT FORGET UNIFORM, SHOES, AND BLOOMERS.† Check and double check before leaving.† Then check again.† We expect no more make up than you would normally wear to school, including no glitter.† Clear lip gloss is perfect.† Also remove any finger nail polish and trim nails.† Long nails can be considered a safety hazard.† No jewelry is allowed.† Please arrive in uniform ready to perform (that means not in pajamas and boots).

Medical Form
Medical waivers can be filled out online at this address https://dochub.com/ryanbatchelorb97b1aa5/bjNzZz/mcd-waiver-2018-2019?dt=tthTuH4iq523DhnsbyQs .† Please take the time to complete this.† It's a different format, but still much more convenient to be able to fill it out online.† Many of the forms once filled out will cover other competitions this year.† So while you can expect to fill out a few more, you shouldn't have to fill out one for every competition this year.

Food
Make sure our little ones get a little something to eat before performing in the morning.† After awards reward them with a good lunch for a great day!† Our evening teams should eat a late lunch before arriving.† That should get you through the evening til you can eat dinner :)

Last but not least
Please allow at LEAST an additional 30 minutes to whatever your GPS says it will take to arrive. You never know when you may have a flat tire, a broken axel, pulled for speeding, hit traffic, get lost...the list goes on!
We'll have 6 teams attending, but because of the session splits we won't have everyone to cheer for each team.† Energy and Enchanted be sure to make some noise for each other in the morning.† All of the evening teams should be there to cheer for each other.† It's a long day, but no one team has to be there all day so cheering for the other teams shouldn't be an issue.† Please be supportive of EVERY team unless you are in warm ups and not able to do so.† You know how a good crowd excites you when you're on the floor, don't let your teammates down when they're on the floor!

1/30/19 As mentioned in a previous email, competition's have been changing locations much more during the past few seasons than they used to.  As a result our online schedule does not include locations.  We have, however, started sending a "general information" email ahead of our "detailed information" email that has always been sent the week of competition.  For our overnight trips I hope to send out a "general information" email much earlier.

The February 9th competition will be at the Rocky Mount Sports Center in Rocky Mount, NC.  Doors are currently scheduled to open at 8:00 am with the first team taking the floor at 9:00 am.

Final times have not been released so this could change, but as of right now Energy and Enchanted will compete in the morning session that begins at 9:00 am with awards scheduled for 11:00 am.  The middle session will comprise the school and recreation teams.  Our remaining squads will compete in the evening session that begins at 3:00 pm with awards scheduled for 7:00 pm.  These are PRELIMINARY times and are NOT FINAL.  Final and exact meeting times will be emailed hopefully by Friday, so be on the look out for that.  No one team will be asked to stay the whole day, so don't worry about that.

Admission is $18 cash or credit card only ($15 with a blanket or coat donation), Children 3 and under are free.  Parking is $5 per vehicle, this is charged by the venue and in no relation to the competition.  Video Cameras will NOT be allowed.  No Livestream of the event is allowed for the protection of the athletes.  This is a good time to remind everyone that we ask you to not post videos of our team's performances for the same reason.

This is one of their largest competitions with almost 100 performances on the schedule.  All of our teams have competition in their division!  Keep in mind that many of you will be competing the following weekend on Feb. 16th as well.  I hope to have some general information about that comeptition to send out early next week.

There is a clear bag policy for spectators (not athletes) this weekend and I will include that in it's entirety here.

Clear Bag Policy
In an effort to enhance fan safety, Maximum Cheer and Dance is implementing a new clear bag policy at all events beginning in November 2018. The policy is consistent with the NFLís current model and the policy at many other college and professional events.

Only clear tote bags that do not exceed 12 in x 6 in x 12 in or one-gallon plastic freezer bags will be allowed in to a Maximum Cheer and Dance event. In addition, small handheld clutch purses no larger than 4.5 in x 6.5 in will be permitted. Fans will also be able to carry other items into the events, such as binoculars, blankets, cameras and smartphones.

Approved Bags
Clear plastic, vinyl or PVC bags that do not exceed 12" x 6" x 12"
One-gallon clear plastic freezer bag
Small handheld clutch bags no larger than 4.5" x 6.5"
Medically necessary items (after proper inspection at specified gates)

Prohibited bags include, but are not limited to:
Purses larger than a clutch bag
Seat cushions that have pockets, zippers, compartments or covers
Briefcases
Backpacks
Fanny packs
Cinch/Drawstring bags
Luggage of any kind
Computer bags
Diaper bags
Binocular cases
Camera bags
Coolers
